2011: New Year, New Decade

2011 isn’t just a new year but it also marks a new decade.

If we can go back in time a bit, events that unfold in sports, music, technology, and fashion were defined by the  “decade” it took place (Uhmm, say, when we hear 80’s we immediately have Pop music or very colorful clothes in mind).

We had the wonderful post-war decades starting on the 60’s… 90’s — each does have their own trademarks on many fields which I’m sure I’m not in the position to differentiate nor narrate one from the other. I was just wondering how to call the decade 2001-2010? Hahaha.

Whatever it is, let’s all look forward for a different decade. That while we persevere to study medicines that’ll cure diseases, discover archeological evidences that would put answer on man’s greatest struggles of “origin” (e.g. evolution and creation, or which came first..chicken or eggs?), have technological breakthroughs to transform machines to become handy (e.g. from huge monitors down to PDA.. which, now, by the way are in so-called tablets) and convenient (yes, from stereo, games, computers & applications, and internet connections right on the palm of your hand anywhere), and discover galaxies light-years from earth… wait, let’s pause a bit.

Advancement is really awesome and I have nothing against it. In my opinion, summing up the recent decade may had been too much for everyone. These changes may had catapulted mankind to unimaginable possibilities but it is important that we put relevance on our daily lives what or how will  the greater number of us benefit.

For the new decade, I pray that we can all live for a cause that’ll make a difference. That beyond bridging social status between what we ourselves had proudly branded “the rich and the poor”, we can truly utilize these advancement to live and appreciate what we may had forgotten long ago — walking under the sun, take care of the earth we live as much as we take care our own selves, appreciate the moonlight, and many more.

It’s great to have everything, no doubt. But nowadays, it is but right to discipline ourselves, save up and have financial freedom, have a decent job or own a business, and live a simple life with a family to share. Know more what’s in store for us. We need to reboot ourselves and go back to the basics. One way is to read books, write and speak what’s on our mind. Gone were the days that we pity ourselves. It’s time to rejuvenate love within our hearts, persist more to win, appreciate our uniqueness and focus on strengths while we managing around our weaknesses , live as if it’s the last day of our lives, master our emotions, laugh with the world, multiply our worth a hundredfold, act and no longer procrastinate, and have more faith.

We may had a lot of chances in the past which we ourselves had screwed up but one thing’s for sure, our past does not purely define our future.

There is a strong need among us to pause, observe and appreciate simple awesome moments. Through that, we’ll see infinite possibilities that will make you and me, a better individual than we used to.

See you in the future dear friends ; )
